On Thursday, August 4th, 2023, the CNY Regional Market hosted a tour for political representatives, media, and county agricultural partners. The event took place with partnership from SOFSA, the New York Farm Bureau, and Onondaga Grown. The event took place at the Central New York Regional Market, and featured Executive Director of the CNY RMA Amanda Vitale, CNY RMA Board member and farmer Tony Emmi, and SOFSA Advisory Board member and county legislator Dave Knapp as speakers.

The tour was designed to bring some of the critical issues that the Regional Market is facing to light and impress the need for funding for renovations on local and state policy makers. There was an excellent turnout, with over 30 attendees, and Amanda was able to show off many parts of the market — both those that have been updated, and those parts that still need it.

“The whole project really is focused on the most important things right now,” said Amanda Vitale, executive director of the market. “So that’s where we’re going to make the most financial revenue and where we’re going to reduce as many safety hazards as possible, those are the top-level items.”
