In exciting news to round out an eventful year, we are pleased to announce that Steve Ali has joined the SOFSA staff as the Project Coordinator for our Regional Food Systems Partnerships grant. Many SOFSA members have had the opportunity to work with Steve over the past seven months as he’s contributed to crafting our public-facing communications materials, laying the groundwork for our storytelling campaign, and helping to shape SOFSA’s operating structures through his participation in the Leadership, Governance, & Outreach committee.

A self-described “creative collaborator”, Steve brings a wealth of experience in community organizing as well as communicating with a multitude of audiences through both digital and visual media. Beyond his work with SOFSA, Steve is the coordinator of the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation’s Racial Justice Fund and a budding entrepreneur. In his “spare” time, Steve also has a number of independent creative pursuits including poetry, film production, and more.

In his new role as RFSP Project Coordinator , Steve will be leading our community engagement efforts as well as working to expand our membership through communications and outreach. We’re thrilled that he’ll be bringing his expertise to the SOFSA team! Please join us in welcoming Steve in this new capacity.

“Whether it is built over the course of a conversation, a semester, or a lifetime – my primary concern is the same: how can I make this a more hospitable place for the people who spend time in it? I strive to better the contexts in which people live their lives, to weed gardens so that plants may thrive.”
