At SOFSA’s first General Meeting of the New Year, we had the opportunity to hear from Jessi Lyons (Farm Coordinator at Brady Farm and SOFSA Advisory Board Member) and Larkin Podsiedlik (MS, MPH) about the Brady Market, a new initiative at the Brady Faith Center set to launch in a few months’ time. The supermarket will open in the former Nojaim Brothers space, and aspires to fill the gap left by the closing of that long-standing community pillar; in addition to providing healthful food at affordable prices to the people of the Westside, it will also offer a rigorous job training program designed to support the whole person, not only their work.
